Kenna is still out here making great music. “Love Is Still Alive” caught my attention while listening to Garth Trinidad on KCRW. Best I can tell is that it was released last year as a 3 song EP; a full length disc is on the way.
Twitter is abuzz with the release of Disclosure’s remix to “F For You”, featuring Mary J. Blige! While I did not write a post for the brother’s debut release “Settle”, I do have to say that it was one of my favorite albums this past summer and fall. I also had the pleasure of dancing my ass off at their show at the Fonda Theater in October. The Grammy nominated duo will back in California performing at Coachella in April; “Settle” is in stores now!
dineLA is going on here in Los Angeles until January 31st. As always its a great time to enjoy a new culinary experience for lunch or dinner, at a reasonable rate. You can even take it a step further and try a whole new neighborhood. Log onto Opentable.com to see which menu catches your eye and for reservation help; Laist.com has a few suggestions too.
The timeless Wrap Dress is being celebrated at the old Wilshire May Co building via an exhibit entitled Diane Von Furstenberg: ‘Journey of a Dress’. Billed as:
four decades of the dress that started it all

I recently went to a gym as a guest of a friend. I was so excited for the workout that I didn’t think about bringing a lock or water bottle or towel or headphones; or anything really. My ass just showed up! It wasn’t until I started to sweat while on the treadmill that I realized I needed a towel to at least wipe off the equipment.
Best I can tell is always remember to bring a towel for yourself and to wipe off equipment. Sometimes there will be a spray bottle with cleaning solution and some paper towels for you; but yeah. Bring a lock, water bottle and earbuds to plug into machinery that have tv’s installed on them; and don’t hog space and time. Along with the helpful tips from Shine Yahoo! and hilarious commentary found on Cracked.com, you and I can at least look like we didn’t just inhale a medium fries and large Coke via the drive-thru!
December 29th, 2013; 39 years old. I’m sitting here musing about this year past. I’m so hard on myself but if I really take a moment and think, I did good. I’ve been back living on my own for a year, my career prospects and schedule are 10 times better, and I opened up & accepted romantic love into my life. He’s watching Soccer on the couch I fought when I needed to fight, and said “No” when I needed to say no; and more importantly stayed still and quiet when I didn’t have the answer, instead of forcing my own agenda. I also for sure know who is on my side and when I’m not ridin’ for myself I ride for them.
2014; I have no resolutions, just visions of ‘going steady’. Steady love, steady career op’s, steady moving forward with an open mind, heart and spirit and the knowledge that I have everything within me to turn theses visions into reality. As I always have.
The only two performances from the 2013 VMA’s Award show that I care about; Lady Gaga with her performance art piece for “Applause” and Kanye West giving a passionate rendition of “Blood On The Leaves”. Kanye’s movement against that backdrop was breathtaking, and Gaga looked like she was having a good time and i love that; Warhol would be proud. Drake was looking and sounding right but it isn’t share worthy; I mean the downplay from Rihanna at 1:36 IS quite spectacular though. I have hope for pop music yet!
I love keeping my nails painted; it just adds an effortless feminine touch to every outfit. And I like looking down at a nice hand doin’ stuff! While at the library last week, I picked up DIY: Nail Artby Catherine Rodgers. It’s

I banged the hell out of my shin on my hard wood bed frame, and decided to teach myself how to upholsterer the frame. I’ve always loved fabric covered bed frames and figured it couldn’t be too hard, so I set on a search for answers. I came across Daniel Kanter over at Manhattan-Nest.com who did the exact same project; and I followed his lead.
Lucky for me, I have access to Michael Levine’s in downtown Los Angeles, and was able to find my 6 yards of Batting for $18 and a decent navy blue Fleece for $2.50 a pound. Yeah, $7.50; the staple gun that I bought cost twice as much. I wrapped 2 layers of Batting around the rail, and 3 layers around the headboard. I followed with one layer of fabric around the whole frame; stapling as I went.
I feel like it took about 3-4 hours, and while I’m very happy with the results, I will say be careful of the Batting and fabric placement, cause I had a bitch of a time getting the wooden slats back into place, and my mattress almost doesn’t fit back into place. But I love it! It goes great with the DIYcabinet project I did; now I just need some Gray bedding, and throw in some Yellow accents to bring everything together. I keep it swanky no matter the space size or cost. My Bachelorette pad is coming along nicely;-)
