During a conversation I had last year with my friend Lia, a trained dancer and graduate of Columbia University & University of the Arts, she said “I’m about to say fuck it and become a rapper.” Well I’ll be damned if this year she didn’t go on and put out an EP featuring two killer singles, If You Know What’s Good & Cool Kid, and is now performing round town. Now known as Dulcinea Detwah, you too can be down with the coolest kid in all the Eastsides by actin’ like you know and downloading her album.
Been giving thought to this term and why its natives disturb me so. Friend stealers are usually people that don’t do much in the way of making a world for themselves. They wait till they are invited out to where the cool kids are, then instantly start exchanging numbers & email addresses of the folks they have ‘connected’ with.
I myself feed various parts of my being with different scenes. This creates my world and the reason why I am so doggone cool. L-O-fucking-L yeah i said it! Anywhoo, when I invite you out it is to enjoy with me. When I leave you leave. Back to our world. This has less to do with insecurity and more to do with how I run my Queendom. My idealistic life. I also don’t need you running your mouth about my business nor do I want to hear unsolicited stories from the other side.
I’ve been known to throw a side-eye to this behavior and to you I say get a life; stay in your lane. When in doubt, ask me if it is ok that you are off being cool without me. After all, it’s my world.
